Default new luger

This seems like the place to learn about Lugers. I have an opportunity to purchase a nice Luger. It has a serial # of 7013. That is within the Bannerman AE Lugers, however, this cannot be one of them. It has no date but says German instead. All the serial #s match. How do I find out an age (or some info) from the serial #? The seller has no idea of it's history. He previously sold me an AE test gun with the serial #6662. All those numbers match except for the rear site has a different 2 digit #. It is in good condition but not as nice as the other pistol. Any ideas on values? I think I may have paid too much for the AE test pistol. I'm in to it nearly $3K. I would sure like to learn more about these Lugers. Thanks for any help. Gary

Welcome to the forum Gary. I moved your posting from the end of another thread to its own.

A actual Bannerman at 3k is a good deal - provided that it is a 1900 AE Test.

Pictures of one or both would be very helpful - 1. to show its a 1900 and 2. to help ID it.

Pictures of top, each side and markings, to include serial number area.

A 1900 marked Germany (I presume germany and not german) would be a bit surprising at that serial number, so would love to see photos.

Thanks for getting my post to the proper location. You are correct that the top of the pistol says Germany (not German). I will try to take some pics tomorrow, and then try to figure out how to put them on the forum site. I am very excited to possibly find out more about these Lugers. Put your thinking cap on and try to come up with a year of the Luger carrying ser.#7013. The gun with ser.#6662 has the digits 62 on the right hand side of the break down lever, as well as 6662 on the frame and the barrel. There is a US Eagle crest on the top of the frame behind the barrel.
Thanks again, Gary

I don't see a letter suffix anywhere. With the Germany stamp, it should be one for commercial export I believe. I'm new at this and just starting to learn about these Lugers.

I need help! I don't know how to upload images to a URL (like it wants). Every other site I've seen lets you browse to the image on your hard drive and then tag it. It then automatically sends the image to the URL. I will continue to try to figure out this image insertion business. I have not purchased the 7013 ser.# so I have to talk the seller into letting me take photos before I can post them. I'll give that a try later today.
