Info on luger

Please help
I'm new to this forum
I'm trying to attach the requested pics.
Dad brought it back from Germany Battle of the Bulge time I believe.
Like to know as much as I can about it.
Was told it was a police luger.
Approximate value?
Plan on using it as a shooter
Numbers match except no number on hold open
Wooden bottom mag

It's not a police gun but was issued to the 2nd company of the 19th Infantry Regiment of the Reichswehr during the Weimar period.

Is there a date over the chamber somewhere between 1910 and 1912?

Relieved sear, so 1916 or later if matching...

Doesn't look like there is a stock lug, so either it was removed or it predates 1916 and the sear was altered.

There is 1920 over 1911 stamped on the barrel. Why would a WWII German officer have a 1911 pistol. Wouldn't that be from WWI.

Can anyone provide any information about the second Company of the 19th Regiment?. Where stationed battles fought or where I could get this information?. Is this a Police sear?

You are correct about the WW1 vs. WW2 question, but we commonly see WW1 guns with markings taking them up thru the Weimar days and into WW2. That's why we all wish they could talk, because some have seen a lot of history. Your 1920 property marking propelled it into the Weimar days.
The police safety sear is a device added to most Police Lugers, and I'm not seeing it on your gun.

The Allies closely tracked the battles and German Imperial Army's Order of Battle throughout WWI. Unfortunately, for historians and collectors, the collection process of this kind of information ended with the end of WWI. In 1920, all of this documentation was published and has now allowed us to track the majority of Germany's combat units during WWI generally including which battles their units participated in.

I am unaware of any similar effort undertaken/published of Reichswehr unit related activities during the "Weimar Period." As a result, think you will find it difficult to research/develop any unit type information during this period. If you do find any research data relating to Reichswehr units during the Weimar Period, I am sure that there are some folks on this Forum who will be very interested (and appreciative) of you identifying your source documents.
