Well, very nice gun. Your firing pin is busted. The markings are Mauser internal worker markings, just indicating that some part was checked or finished. Sadly no descriptions of those markings have survived.

The small distortion in the S/42 text is interesting. My 1937 S/42 has the exact same distortion which was probably the result of a broken or worn die.

What is the sequence letter on the frame below the serial number?

Yes, a very nice Luger! Have you had it very long? A shame about the firing pin but easy to repair if you want to fire this gun.

I got it 5 days ago from the son of a veteran with an holster made by OTTO SINDEL in Berlin date 1942 the magazine are not matching
I will put somemore pics

Perfect!

Mine is an early B-suffix, so they are about 3000 apart. It should mean that at least all 1937 S/42's between 7992a and 150b have that slightly deformed S/42.

Jean Marie,

Your S/42 was made in the latter part of 1937, as that was the year of the transition from strawed small parts to blue parts. I have one that is much like it, except it is not all matching parts. I will have to check the serial number when I have time to open the safe, but if my memory serves me correctly, it is 8091a but I do not remember the distortion in the S/42 mark. I will let you know after I get the chance to check mine.
