Manufactured in 1920 and initially issued to the Sicherheitspolizei in the Prussian district of Schneidemühl (S.S.2.II.5.55.). Following a reorganization and downsizing of this unit, the pistol and probably its bearer were transferred in the mid-1920s to the Schutzpolizei command in the city of Erfurt (S.E.I.5.53.). In 1932, the pistol was re-marked to conform to revised marking instructions (S.E.I.134.). The marking format and lack of sear or mag safeties indicate the pistol belonged to barracked Bereitschaftspolizei who were transferred to the military in 1935-36. Similar markings may be seen in chapters 10 and 11 of HWIS.
