Post TD's Police Luger Pictures #1

To all: OK, here goes. There will be 8 pictures in this group of the pistol. Another posting will have 4 pictures of the magazines.

td, make a reply in this same thread and I can change it tonight. {{you can only add eight pictures at a time in a reply}}

And not to be too much of a pain, but it has been awhile, so this police pistol, remind us of what you said before?

Ed

The first eight posted OK, so here are the four pictures, two each of the two magazines.

Ed,
Having trouble with IE, so I hope this reply gets done. I realize now I should have posted the pictures to the original thread "Municipal Police Marking". ADMIN here is that thread:
http://forums.lugerforum.com/lugerfo...;f=17;t=000079

In that thread, I asked what city was marked (consensus is Hannover), when was this pistol made, is the serial number letter suffix a "b", or an "l", and is the location of the serial number on the side plate correct for a police pistol? There may have been other questions, but that is most of them. A responder today points out some apparent inconsistencies in the markings and make me wonder even more what I have. Thanks for your help, sorry for any problem I have caused.

Try here, and you can see that it is a "b" suffix
http://www.lugerforum.com/Suffixes/Suffixes.htm

And I must seem like mister complain, so I apoligize about that. A not as close up of the side plate would be better, too close and it makes it harder to judge at times. The number looks fine to me, but I am no expert on "placement" for plates?

Ed,
I had looked at the suffixes section and that didn't answer it for me. The receiver suffix has a curlicue that the barrel suffix doesn't. Is that just due to the rounded contour of the barrel?

I will take another picture of the sideplate, and see if I can add it to this thread. That may happen Friday. Tomorrow, I am visiting with PL in the High Desert, whew.
