Holsters et al!!!

It seems each holster I own is differend from each other. No two seem the same. There must be at least a hundred individual holster makers. Where there certain standards and if so who set these standards. Could anyone sell their holsters to a luger maker? Were there individual variations? Were the limited to what they could print under the flap? What were the rarest and what were the most common? Are they like fingerprints, no two alike! What are considered the finest or rarest?
