Krieghoff Mag
I just bought a 1936 Krieghof with a Haenel Schmesser mag. the top of the mag has been ground down in the middle at the top of boths sides. Is this normal manufacturing process? Also the toggel will not hold back with this mag, but will with any other mag. And the mag will work in any other luger to hold action open. The button on the right looks like it sticks out too much maybe. Any thoughts.

Hi Richard..!
The MAG could be the correct type, as there were two variations of your type of MAG used. Can you tell me - does yours have the LWaA and the serial number of your "1936"? Photos would really help - especially of the top right side of the MAG. As well - no, the top of the mag should not be "ground down" in the middle..?? Best to you! John D. |

The mag is numbered to the gun and on the base has two odd looking I think eagles over a "2". On the body of the mag is Haenel Schmeisser Patent. I can see I am going to have to learn to post pictures. Thanks

I am thinking now that since the mag is an extruded metal mag, it was ground at the top in manufacturing. The middle of the mag has a thicker section, so at the top is maybe ground off to fit the gun. Any thoughts.

We'd need pictures to see what you mean. Most of the time when we hear ground on a luger mag, it is the base and that is to take the number or swastika off.
