1900 AE Luger repair
Mike B sold this Luger and the new owner contacted "Hub" (Neil Keller of Kustom Ballistics) and me for repairs to the right side. Hub did a great job on the metal filling and I am rust bluing the right side only. My camera is not focusing up close so there goes the pictures, maybe the new owner will post them if he is a member. http://forum.lugerforum.com/showthread.php?t=24623

I'd love to see it, I know which one you are talking about and it had soem dumb hole in the side or something; I am sure it is outstanding now!

Yes Please... new owner whoever you are, please post some photos of the repaired area. This was a fine looking pistol except for the Bubba modifications... If Neil and Ted did the repairs, it should be like new...

Ted, Ed and John
Yes, I'm a member, and I, too, am really anxious to see Ted's finished work. Mike's up-close photos were pretty much spot-on, and after exploring several alternatives I put my trust in the best...Thor and Neil Keller. The gun (even in its bolloxed-up state) was too nice to be just a plinker, although that's what I originally bought it for. This nice piece of history...in such beautiful condition...deserved more than trips to the range. Just as soon as it's back I'll do a detailed photo-shoot, and will post the finished results. I'm an old-time collector (primarily Colt and S&W) of prewar revolvers, and generally walk away from any work as complicated and delicate as what was involved here. Never have I worked with two professionals as good as Ted and Neil. Don |

It's back !
The 1900 AE arrived (from Thor) today, and below are some photos showing the 'after' state of the pistol.
Bright morning sun, no Photoshop or artificial lighting or filters. There's one shot of the other side of the pistol as a color-comparison. The minor color-difference between the receiver and the frame is simply a highlight from the sun...in reality the colors match perfectly. I've been in this hobby for about 50 years, and have dealt with most of the big-name restoration guys. NEVER have I seen this type of job done, and NEVER have I seen such perfect work. You've all seen the 'before' shots, so I won't repeat them. The small areas that Neil welded and filled, and Thor refinished are so perfectly blended into the surrounding original finish that they're undetectable. I've can not get over the transformation to this fine old pistol. Don Last edited by DHENRY; 11-08-2010 at 04:41 PM. |

Glad you are happy Don, the Luger looks pretty good all put together, a shame what had happened to it before. I am happy to help out but really Hub's welding did the trick, I have never seen any that was flawed. He is the best! It is great being part of a team that can fix these old Lugers up.

For someone who does not remember seeing the "before' photos, is there a link which allows you to view them?

Before photos
OK guys, I hope I am not stepping ahead of Don, but here are a couple of "before" pictures. This is a remarkable job done by both artist. I am willing to give Don his money back if he doesn't like the gun.
