Default 1916 Police DWM & unmatched holster

Hello All-

First post in the forum, but have always been interested in innovative German weapons like the Luger, Stg44, K43.

Considering buying whats represented as a numbers matching (except for magazine) 1916 DWM police Luger with a fair condition '1915' marked holster.

The gun has good bluing and grips (probably refinished at some point based on the price?) and appears to have a repair to the front right section of the receiver, and some possible repairs to the back of the toggle near the rear site -

This will be my first Luger - is $1000 - $1100 reasonable for a refinished gun, as long as all parts are matching / original? I will be shooting occassionally, but am more interested in collecting a decent 'numbers matching' gun than having a 'unmatched' shooter...

As I can only have the option to attach one picture, here is the best representation of Luger & holster...

I've watched this gun for some time as it sat on gunbroker, and has now just got some auction on it. I know of the seller, emailed a few times about Lugers in general, not this paticular gun, and everyone I talked with speaks well of him. I to have seen all the pictures, but feel that this is perhaps at the lower end of collecting and not real sure of the extent of damage, I believe that if the gun goes for $1,100, that it is still a bit more that I would want to pay, and still in light of the current prices, and a fair holster is included, you will not get burned....a lot of folk will caution you about firing a matching gun, if you know of the dangers that are possible is breaking a part, and the affect it will cause to is value, well enough said. I picked up the other day an all matching 1917/1920 DWM police, matched mag, no holster, in better condition for $950, not the most pristine gun in my collection but for the cost well worth putting away...if this gun gets away from you, I would not feel real bad, fair deal at best but you can always keep looking....if I can help let me know
