History Of My Lugers
Hello everyone and thank you for taking the time to look at this thread. I made a post awhile back in this very forum titled; "Should I "Plink" with my inherited Luger?". In that thread I posted scans of the Lugers In Question. Since then however, I have wondered about the History of these weapons. I inherited them from my Grandmother, whose Aunt's brothers had brought them back from WWI. Included with the Lugers, in addition to the Holster, Belt, Stock, and two pistols, was an Artillery Shell Art with Lorraine inscribed into it as well as what appears to be a Rose. In the opposite side of the shell is a double cross, with two - -, through the |, one - near the top and one - near the bottom. Below is a detail of the guns;
Artillery Model: It was used in WWI (to what extent I am not sure of). The takedown lever seems like it is a replacement part. -1917 DWM -Loose Grip -Matching Stock and Holster -8743 Part Numbers -Has been shot once by me with stock attached Extremly fun to shoot! (Inside the holster it appears that Bat IV is printed on the inside flap) Standard: Again used in WWI but no idea how or what for. -DWM 1915 -715 Numbers ALL Parts appear to be orignal. Please, PLEASE, if you need me to look at the guns for you or send a scan of the gun, holster, or whatever for the purpose of aiding me in my research, do not hessitate in the least. I really would like to know some of the history of the guns and was told a few of the members on the forum may be able to offer some help. Thanks very much! -Burke

Hi Burke
I moved your photos into this discussion, so LF members could more easily answer... p.s. BTW...it is illegal in the USA to connect your P-08 luger to the Artillery stock...our BATF only allows the stock to be attached to a LP-08 Artillery luger with 8" barrel and unique arty rear sight. p.s.s. I suspect you will get many inquiries, off Forum, from members wanting to buy your LP-08 stock... Best Regards, Pete... |
