Default Newbie, Help

Hello,

i am looking at getting my first Luger. I am looking at a 1936 Mauser S/42, all matching numbers including the magazine.

1. What do you think this is worth?

2. Why is there only one Eagle 63 proof?, All of the rest that I have seen have two.

Thank you for your help,

Rich

Hi Rich, Welcome to the forum! Thanks for posting that interesting Luger, I'm sure it will spark much debate. Does the barrel have an Army Test Proof on it's right side near the chamber? It's the same eagle you see on the front of the receiver and the breech block. My preliminary guess is that this gun was assembled from left over or rejected parts, most likely post war. The barrel could be a replacement, the frame looks like a DWM, and the magazine has been crudely renumbered. Regards, Norm

The gun is rebarrrelled, and the "matching" mag is bogus. It is at $1,250 now and the reserve has not yet been met. Save your money.

Thumbs up

Hi Rich, and welcome to the Forum, as you may have already found out you can not only learn a lot here from the "experts" but they can also help you save a lot of money on your potential purchases, just as they have for me.
