Post Site Details....

Hi All..!!

Thanks a million for your comments and support.! I just posted the final "Notice" on the old Forum, and closed it to posting...

OK - from the technical/programming end - I think I'm just about there - and all of you have been terrific! A couple of isses:

I need to tune the final code a bit, so you may see these Forums slow down a LOT, or even be "off-line" for a few minutes. Sorry about that - but I can't write code when the Forum is "busy"...

LugerForum patch for Avatars - John S. cam up with a terrific idea on that - but it will take a bit to get done. It can be done, though..!!

Transition. I guess it would be best to go ahead with posting a link back from the Old Forum to here. When that happens thought, only John S. and I can process the requests. Anyone there who can also help with this (you might want to feel pretty comfortable with computers to do this )

Moderators - Thor, Pete, Ron have been "voluntered" already - and John S. and I will do the overall site with DOK when he gets back. If there are other suggestions - PLEASE post back, OK?

Best to all!

John
Wow! A moderator. Guess I better ask now..What specific actions do you want a moderator to do and how do we do them? I figure we are supposed to intervene when the flames start and correct any mis-information in our respective areas when necessary. Do we have unlimited edit/delete priviledges? (Scary) Do we have any membership approval responsibilities? Sorry to front-end load the process because I know you are busier than a one-armed juggler, but I have this incredible ability to foul things up. So I thought I would ask.

I can help in whatever you need John. I am doing Security P&P right now, so I can switch between the forum and work, <img src="graemlins/roflmao.gif" border="0" alt="[hiha]" />

Hi Ron..!!!

OK - these are terrific questions. Honestly, just use your best judgement when it comes to "moderating" your Forum. If you think a person is out of line, you can post under theirs or simply contact them through the Private Message option (it's a built in e-mailing program that allows one user to "talk" to another "privatly").

Also - yes, as a "Moderator" in your Forum (Early Lugers (1900-1906) in your case, for example), you can edit or delete posts altogether. You can also make an ADMIN post which will stay at the TOP of your Forum (I'll give an example with this post). You can make any post an ADMIN post by selecting this icon:

at the bottom of any discussion thread...

Anyway - just play with some of these for right now - as you won't "break" anything - Promise!!!

Thanks to you Ron and to all of you!!!

That would be terrific Ed..!!! OK - choose a Forum you would like to kind of watch as the moderator - and know you won't be alone, as most Forums have/will have a couple of Moderators..!

My thanks!

Red face

John, I think All P08 Military, Luger Accessories and the New Member Section I would like to assist as moderator?

But I don't have to be an expert in other fields to notice or <img src="graemlins/cussing.gif" border="0" alt="[grrrrrrr]" />

<img src="graemlins/roflmao.gif" border="0" alt="[hiha]" />

Angry

I was just looking at all the different moderators
I think it's a great idea to have people watching every corner of the forum! I may have stepped out of line sometimes at the old forum but I'll be better at this one! I tried to stay away from the old forum since I found out about this one, but this morning I had to take a "look see" and when I did I was enraged to see Timmy and Tommy armed with flame throwers! I had to say something, and I'd like to say that If I stepped out of line I'm sorry it won't happen again!

Thumbs up

John and All,

Just got the word about Luger Forum and this new site.
And just registered. lugerholsterrepair as before. Be patient with all of us, it will take time to learn "where to go" to do what!
Anyway we can "copy/paste" our old profiles??
Thanks for the "newness".

Hi Jerry..!

First of all - Welcome!!!

As for the "old" profiles - yes, they will stay up. However, I'm still thinking through the "role" the Old Forum will play and what "features" will still be accessible? Honestly - I hadn't thought about the Profiles issue until you brought it up - as this Forum has a different "Profile" feature.

My primary intent to to be sure that the archives and information is retained in the old system - and allow it to be able to be searched. I know I can do that - and link it into the main site.

Anyway - let me give it some thought and chat with John S. about it - and we'll see what we can do, OK?

In the meantime - it's terrific to see you over here!! <img src="graemlins/wave.gif" border="0" alt="[byebye]" />
