Help. I have a 1911 Erfurt Luger. All original but new handle grips . Appraisal
Hello. I have taken it to several shops and have been told its in great condition. But I am not able to find anyone that will give me an honest appraisal. I have tried to pay for an appraisal but continue to find dealers not wanting to do an appraisal for legal reasons. I believe there are trying to get over on me. So my search has led me to this forum and I am told that this is the best place to go. I am trying to post pictures now. Can anyone let me know what this year and make generally cost among collectors? Thank you for your input.

Welcome Keith,
The group would be happy to give you ballpark value, once clear photos of the overall pistol and all its markings are posted. With Lugers, originality and condition are everything. It would be irresponsible to throw out a number on a 1911 Erfurt without the photos. |

Keith..but continue to find dealers not wanting to do an appraisal for legal reasons. Weird. Not many people..95% of dealers you might see around town..would be capable of giving any kind of useable appraisal. Even that number shrinks with complex Lugers. Like Doug says..get some good photo's and learn how to field strip the pistol and it can be done here.

yes, I agree, the vast majority of gun dealers sell only new guns, for them to give an appraisal, they will pull out a Blue Book and likely be wrong in value.
