Which would you rather have?

I have a byf shooter with an Erfurt toggle. As it is, the numbers match. The Erfurt toggle bugs me, but I haven't been able to find a byf toggle link that will work. Granted that it's a shooter and always will be, what would you rather have?

Matching numbers, but mismatched manufacturers

Matching parts, but mismatched numbers

Matching numbers, matching manufacturers, but mismatched era (ie s/42 toggle on a byf)

I'm torn between the last two...I think.

Well - to be honest???

If it shoots, just shoot it?? I think we all get the urge when we get a shooter - to wonder if it will shoot any better if we replace parts? It usually doesn't, tho'

So - my $0.00002 is shoot the snot out of it and save what you'd have spent for other parts towards a matched Luger.. You see - then you'd have two Lugers...

Now - 'splain that to your wife - and let us know how it goes..??!

You're probably right, but the right part would make it less wrong.

RE: the wife - As we all know, all Lugers look exactly the same. The trick is to never have more than one out at a time. Works for 1911s and various other things. Of course it also works the other way too. As far as I know my wife has one pair of shoes and one purse and they are the same ones she had when we were dating in high school.

For a shooter, as long as its accurate and functions reliably it makes no difference whether it matches or not. Of course its always better if it looks good too.

Yep - I used to believe the same... "They know".. Gawd only knows how... I think they are taken aside in kindergarten and taught such things... I dun'no..

It can have many use.

It can be used in range for fun.
If have function issue, making it work will have some fun as well.
It can be an organ donor to other guns (springs, for example).
It can be used to try rust blue.
In worst case senario, it can be used for playing TIG welding.

The price needs to be right. And, don't buy too many of them.

At my house,every time the wife sees a new(to me) gun,i just say its one I have had for years and she has just never noticed it before. However,since I have been married for over 20 years now,I need to think of something else!

Well, I have a 41 byf with different numbers. The toggle train, the frame, the receiver group all different. Best damned shooter I have! At the range I don't care what the numbers are, it's the groups that count.
