HÃ?Â¼bner in einer alten Waffenzeitschrift erstmals der Ã??ffentlichkeit vorgestellt. Das spÃ?Â¤tere Serienmodell wurde nicht so aufwendig wie das hier beschriebene Modell gefertigt. Die Waffe stammt aus dem alten Werksarchiv der Mauserwerke in Oberndorf.

What would drive the design change to relocate the placement of the thumb safety lever...??? Better ergonomics...???

Hi,

This gun was bought along with other one-offs and prototypes when Mauser quit their pistol production. The seller has some more mauser-related goodies.

Pete, I think this configuration was meant to be used with one hand, it certainly makes putting the safety on and off with a single thumb movement easier.

sure is one UGLY Luger in my opinion...

Prototypes should be at least easy on the eyes...

I have to agree that it is ONE ungly Luger, but the only thing that would make it uglier is adding PEARL grips, LOL!

I agree, ugly as RK says. However, as an old bullseye shooter I am attracted to it. If I could see it in person and heft it, try the trigger and examine the sights I might fall in love with it. Beauty is as beauty does. Wonder how many $$$ to own one like that.

If that's an adjustable rear sight, I'd remove the barrel weight and call it the most beautiful Luger I've ever seen..... Arty and Navy had elevation adjustment, but this one might have windage.

Interesting that the prototype is called number "08" - there's no grip safety, but it has dished toggles.

RK, can you get any more pics???

Does anyone have more info about the referenced Sport Model series???

The wood grips on my 1923 commercial P08 look a lot like that. Mine are a litle more beat around the edges however.
I will have to up load a pic.
