Default New Luger!

Hi All!

I managed a trade for my Colt 1924 Transition for a 29/70 with Southriv.
I have a like new 6" 9mm 29/70 Interarms Parabellum. It is quite
accurate and I think it will be a great shooter. Included were a set of
Swiss 1929 grips, much more comfortable than the wooden "boards"
Mauser came up with. I'm hoping you folks can tell me a little about this gun.

Serial 11.00.366X FBM proofs on barrel and receiver .
366X electropenciled on underside of rear toggle link.
9 mm Luger on top of barrel
Mauser Parabellum on left side of frame
9 mm Luger on left side of frame
Mauser Werke A. G. Oberndorf a. N. on front stap of grip
INTERARMS Alexandria,Virginia on right side of upper receiver
Made in Germany on rear of frame

Best Regards,
Mike

Hello Mike,
Happy to help you about Mauser Parabellum.
First of all, please have a look at my web site and then click: Mauser Parabellum Gallery. In this section you can have a quite good overview about the Mauser Parabellum.

Second point, you are absolutely lucky, because your pistol is a really early production. You have to know that the serial number of the Mauser Parabellum in 9mm starts from 11.001001. Therefore your pistol is the 266x produced. It means that it has been done in the firsts months of production.

Another evidence of your early production is that the serial number pattern has two dots. This feature appears only in the first production, then Mauser used a pattern like 11.xxxxxx with only one dot.

Another piece of info: the pattern starting with 11. are related to pistol in 9mm, the pattern starting with 10. are related to pistol in .30 luger.

Just let me know if it enought or if you need some other information.

Cheers,
Mauro

Mike,

You should like your new pistol very much. For a good reference about these, find a copy of Mauser Parabellum by Francis C Allan. It is getting hard to find but is all about these Mauser built pistols. LugerDoc did h ave a few copies. You could drop him a personal message and ask if he has any left. If you are lucky, you can find old copies of Gunfacts magazine from 1969 and 1970 that have a multi-part series. Much of the information in Allan's book is from this series.

I have a 6" in .30 cal and it shoots great!

Mike, I do still have a few new copies of Allen's "The Mauser Parabellum" available @$30 + $5 for priority S&H. Please send MO or check to Tom Heller POB 398 St.Charles, MO. 63302. I do have most new original parts available for these lugers, should you need them in the future. I could use your spare set of grips for another customer, should you decide to sell or trade them.

I just looked on Amazon.com and they do not have any copies of this book listed. It is getting hard to find so I would get it from Tom Heller if you want one.
