Default Markings?

This is a new one for me. I've seen that mark before, maybe here, but don't think that was it.

And if that barrel is origonal then those tire tracks on my chest were fakes. It could be but it sure doesn't look right. Saw a DWM 1917 matching w/mag & 1914 holster, Vet purchase, he swore it was origonal but it had been reblued. Had pitting under the nice even blue, numbers smooth, ect. Ever consider some of these old guys might lie or were lied to when they got it?

Roadkill,

What does not look right to you on the barrel? Is it the amount of bluing on the barrel vs. the amount of bluing on the sideplate?

What about the barrel serial? It looks rather far up the barrel to me. The bore size stamp may be there, but it's not clear.

Default photos

It looks to me that whoever took the photos may not have had the proper lighting for the best results.Notice that the light or flash caused problems on all the rounded surfaces of the gun.

Did everybody decide whether the letter under the serial number is a "w". I am just trying to figure out what it is since mine is stamped with the same letter.
