Post H. Jones Book/1910 Erfurt Questions...

In my copy of H. Jones' book. Luger Variations, in a couple of places he makes reference to 1910 Erfurts. I think this book was printed, originally in 1959 with some reprintings through 1975.

Were 1910 Erfurt's thought (or rumoured) to exist back in 1959 ?

I understand the two (2) observed 1910's did not surface until just 2-3 years ago (in the AutoMag article by J. Cate and later in C. Kenyon's article in Gun Report).

The two references from the H. Jones book are :

1. On page 55, under the Erfurt section, the text reads as "...Beginning in 1910 this factory produced many 4" barrel...".

2. On pgae 126, under the luger description for 1908 Erfurt Militarty, the text reads as " Chamber : Dated 1910-1913...".

Appreciate any help trying to understand the chronology back in 1959.

Was a 1910 Erfurt the "controversial" luger of its day, back in 1959 ?
