Swiss Collection...

I have been focusing my recent collecting in the Swiss area and think this acquisition plan might make a decent, well-rounded Swiss Luger collection...

Anyone see something that I am missing on my list ?

In a year or two when the guns are all together, I will plan to post a family shot :

M1900 Swiss-DWM, with 1st type thumb safety, early 3-digit or later, unrelieved or relieved magazine feedway.
M1900 Swiss-DWM, with 2nd type thumb safety.
M1900 Swiss-DWM, with 3rd type thumb safety; preferrably a wide trigger (in the 4000-5000 serial range).

M1900 Swiss-DWM commercial with BUG proofs.

M1906 Swiss-DWM, with cross/sunburst on the chamber.
M1906 Swiss-DWM, with cross/shield on the chamber.

M1906 Swiss W+F Bern (aka M1924 Bern), 1st variation side plate.
M1906 Swiss W+F Bern (aka M1924 Bern), 2nd variation side plate, with the taller "island" on the side plate.

M1929 Swiss Bern, with red plastic grips and magazine, 30 cal., either military or commercial.
M1929 Swiss Bern, with brown plastic grips and magazine, 30 cal., either military or commercial.
M1929 Swiss Bern, with black plastic grips and magazine, 30 cal., either military or commercial.

M1929 Swiss Bern, with black plastic grips and magazine, factory-original 9 mm barrel.

M1934 Swiss-Mauser, M1906 style, in the 3600v to 3800v serial range, either with a blank chamber or a cross/sunburst on the chamber.

Mauser Interarms (from the 1970's), swiss style, .30 or 9 mm with 4" barrel.
Mauser Interarms (from the 1970's), swiss style, .30 or 9 mm with 6" barrel.

p.s. I guess I could add a 1902 Swiss Fat Barrel...only seen two ever (Shattuck's and the one that sold at Reno 1.5 years ago), but that would be kind of like looking for another 1910 Erfurt...

If you had a fat barrel. Then you would have to bid on the rare" fat body" loading tool on e-bay.

Man, you've got quite a collection going. I think the Swiss Lugers are eligant. The Gentleman's Luger. They suit you Pete. Have you got a photo or two of the grouping?

If you really want a 1910 Erfurt? I have a good idea where you could have one created.

Hey Pete, you missed the 1902 carbine with the Swiss Cross in Sunburst. There's even one of those suckers on PIA!!! Alot more "common" than the 1910 Erfurt!

I am missing 5 in the grouping (hope my wife does not read this...

).

I plan to photo the family when the gathering is completed...

Hope to bring some of my non-Swiss lugers to Reno to offer them to other members if they have interest...they just do not seem to stir my soul as do the Swiss when I take them out of my gun safe...

Wow Pete! You are only missing 5, and I only have 6 total. Not bad for a beginner...after my 48 years of collecting, you already have nearly twice as many Swiss as I do!! Good going.

In your search, you might want to expand the serial number range of the "wide trigger" 1900 examples, because I have it on good authority that there is at least one that is in the 3100 range.

Quite a swiss collection Pete congratulations. Unbeleivable that you were able to put that amount of goodies togther in such a short amount of time.

Hi, Pete:

Re: your list of Swiss guns, if you can acquire all of them in a reasonable amount of time, congratulations! Note that I didn't add "for a reasoanable amount of money," as nothing is "reasonable" about our hobby, I guess.

I can think of a couple of things that you might want to add to your list if you can find them and afford them:

1. An E-prefix s/n 1900 Swiss (mine is E-553)
2. A blank chamber 1906 Basel police
3. A commercial Luger marked "Germany" on the frame and one not marked "Germany" on the frame (maybe they're already on your list -- I didn't print it before writing this e-mail!).
4. A 9mm Waffenfabrik Bern (1906/24)
5. A 1906 Swiss/Abercrombie and Fitch

Save room also for the oddballs: cased guns issued as shooting prizes, long barrels, etc. -- and have fun!

Your list contains a 'M1900 Swiss-DWM commercial with BUG proofs'

Can you tell me what the difference is between this pistol and a BUG proved M1900 Commercial that might have been sold in Germany or elsewhere in Europe?

The M1900 Swiss commercial w/BUG would be just like the M1900 DWM commercial...with the cross/sunburst added to its chamber instead of a blank chamber..

My Reno posting is an old one from back in March 2005. I un-loaded the 3 lugers I had in mind, then...not unloading anything else now...

Pete, very nice collection. You should start taking pictures and posting now! It will take a while you know. And if we don't get pictures we will pout.

How about the circa 1921 Basel Police Lugers in 9mm although these are apparently hard to identify other than by the SN number range so maybe not so interesting as those you have. If we had the pictures we would know for sure.
