Do all side plates on a 1939 42 luger have the last 2 digits of the serial number on the side plates. Imm looking at a luger that doesnt have the number on it. Trying to determine if correct

Yes. 1939 Mauser Luger side plates should have the last two digits of the serial number on them. An unnumbered side plate is a replacement. Have you looked on the underside to see if there are two digits there? If so, it will have come from a commercial Luger.
