Default 1937 S/42 Luger

I just picked up a 1937 S/42 Luger with Matchin #'s except the 8 inch barrel with no numbers..Was it replaced-it was a vet bring back.Thank you!

The barrel may have been replaced before the vet got it but, it did not leave the factory with an eight inch barrel.
