There were a couple pics posted of repro wood shoulder stocks that also doubled as holsters...

Could one of you kind souls who own one of these please post a pic of how the Luger (preferably the Artillery model) looks with it attached???

There is/was one (or two) in the For Sale section of this forum (where I linked the pics from)...Perhaps they could tell you where they come from...

My interest was in which way the holster/stock was attached...With the bulk of the holster up...or down...hard to tell from just the pic of the holster...

You would have to do paperwork with the ATF (?) registering it as a short barreled rife. Though it was my understanding that you could put it on an Artillery model legally, But I would check first. If you are hesitant to call the ATF let me assure you that they are generally very nice people and not all of them are "out to get" us gun owners.

I agree that there are (probably) some very reasonable people at the BATF. Unfortunately, the decision to prosecute or not to prosecute is not made on the basis of agent's personality, but instead on other factors, mainly whether or not they can win the case. And when they see an easy win I do not want to be that poor SOB.
When in doubt, don't.

lug? Is the Ideal rig illegal to own as it can be attached to a
Luger with or without a stock lug and with differnt lenght barrle's?

The specific Lugers that are legal with a stock are spelled out in the BATF rules. Just because a Luger has a stock lug (which most made after 1913 do) that does not, in itself, make it legal to own a stock. You have to have the proper Luger model and stock configuration to be legal under the BATF guidelines. The Ideal rig is only legal with American Eagle Lugers, models 1900, 1902 and 1906. Whoever applied for the exemption for the Ideal stock only applied for the AE Lugers and that is what the BATF ruled to be legal.

In response to your first question: My limited experience would say that it is not a good idea to be in possession of a pistol stock AND any gun that it will work on. The old rule on the auto sears for the AR-15 to M16 full auto function was that the parts themselves were legal to possess, however if you happened to also own an AR-15, then you were in trouble. Even if the parts were not installed on said AR.
Again, when in doubt, don't.

Bill, I agree with you 100%. My joke wasn't aimed at your post, there was also another thread at the same time about the same subject and posters were talking about the stock being illegal there too. I can see why you thought I was making fun of your post, sorry.

While the holster-stock itself looks quite attractive, when it is attached it looks quite awkward...If the bulk of the holster were on top I think it would look much better...With the bulk on the bottom (as pictured on Mauro's site), it is...grotesque...

My $.02 worth...YMMV...
