Post OT Mauser rifle hints?

<img src="graemlins/offtopic.gif" border="0" alt="[offtopic]" /> I put an ad in the newspaper and a guy called me. He says he has a 7 mm Mauser, hasn't been sporterized.
I go and look at it tomorrow, downloaded some info from the net, but any good sites to go visit?

thanks,

Talking

I don't know yet Terry, will go look at it this afternoon, no matter what, I won't offer very much, as I don't really need another rifle

But we'll see, I don't have a German WW2 rep like my other military rifles.

Glad you're on board with us, I know how long it takes for the messages to filter across that great divide of an ocean.

Double check the caliber, without my books here (still playing army) the only 7MM I know off the top of my head is the Spanish Mauser used in the Spanish American War, made by Ovedia (?) arms factory in Spain under German License. With the exception of the Chinese ones I'd fire most any of them today after checking head space. Poor man's head space guage, use a quality business card, insert in front of bolt and close. If the card can be pulled out then its too loose, if bolt won't close then too tight. Happy hunting
