Post Can you folks tell me....

How the Forum "responds" in loading and viewing threads? Is is fast, slow, normal (maybe compared to the old Forum?).

Thanks for any input..!

John,

I've noticed it to be a bit slower, but not unbearable!

Thanks Greg..! That's what I'm looking for..!

Let me try to change the cache size in a bit... It will get slower for a bit - then should speed up after that...

OK - I think I found one of the performance issues... Can you tell me if this site is a bit faster now for you? If not - that's OK - I'm still writing code..!!!

Hi John:

Thanks for doing this. It seems equally as fast as the previous forum. I love the different topics.

This is wonderful! You don't know how GOOD it feels to have access to MY Luger family.

Dan brought up a good idea to me. A Luger family! I love the sound of that and it seems appropriate. I was wondering, John, if there is anyway to get a listing of the current registered users. Thanks! If it is additional work for you, please put it off as I know you are very busy on more pressing issues. Thanks again John, the new forum is .....AWESOME!!

Hi Guys...!

Well - at about 1:45 AM last night - I think I finished most of the code re-writes - sorry for not replying 'till this AM - but I was kind of beat. I think the speed is where I want it on this Board - so thanks for the feedback!

Let's turn it on in a bit - I'll shut down the old Forum a little later today with a final post etlling folks to come here. Also - to do that, I'm going to reset the ADMIN approval to join...

My thanks to all of you!

John, if the final post has the new location, how will people see it if the sight goes down after you post it? Will it be there on a read only basis? Thanks

Exactly. What I'll do is close the old board from new posts - with a final ADMIN post to come here. As well - I'll link this Board in as the link off the main page - so folks will find it. Don't forget - they won't even see the posts until they register first.

As folks arrive - I think we should "approve" anyone - then John S. and I can approve them to post. We need to give folks a chance. With the ability to "shut off" a persons ability to post very quickly here, I don't think the risk is too high. And we can "banish" them by John or I changing their profile password - as it locks them from even seeing the Board...

Sound good?

Sounds good, I wonder if this new forum will be able to be found by search engines? Thanks for the butt busting work you have been doing, I HIGHLY appreciate it John!

Hey John D.

I presume that you are going to leave the rest of the Lugerforum site intact? and just change the link to the message board to point here? and please check your regular email for a question about one additional forum...

-thanks,

Hi John D,
I just finished checking everything out in all the subject areas. It actually is a lot faster now than before. No problems from my end and I like the new format. I was running around everywhere like a kid at a toy store or a Luger nut at a gun show. Really turned out great. Well I got to get back to work. <img src="graemlins/yltype.gif" border="0" alt="[typing]" /> See everyone later.

John D. It is now 18:30 here in Utah and the board is a lot faster than it was this mornig. It still seems a little slow when trying to go back to the previous page and a couple of times I got a message something like-information missing, repost from data? That is not exactly right but if I get it again I'll write it down for you. p.s. love the gremlins! I think I'll <img src="graemlins/drink.gif" border="0" alt="[cherrsagai]" /> now.

John D. OK, it did it when I hit the back button, here is the message: DATA MISSING This document resulted from a POST operation and has expired from the cache. If you wish you can repost the Form data to recreate the document by pressing the RELOAD button. ?? Your cache or mine??

John D. following my two posts and after hitting the Add Reply button it took about 75 seconds to get back to the page. I checked my connection and am running at 44bps right now, it is usually 28.8 and even slower but that is my problem, not yours.
Hey, not picking just trying to help.
