1906 Brazilian???
I went to see a couple of pistols...One of them caught my attention....and I bought it
DWM toggle, commercial style numbering, no dated chamber, no stock lug, grip safety, serial 43XX no alpha letter, 4 3/4 in .30 cal, CARREGADA marked extractor...and a small B in a circle on the left side of the receiver... I think it is a 1906 Brazilian model. Am I right? Anybody familiar with this model? Thanks for the help kidvett |

Does it also have a narrow trigger guard, wide trigger and a grip safety? What is the serial number?

Sounds like you have one! There were 5000 made serial numbers 1 to 5000. Most of these were reportedly refinished with the wrong color? Is it pink or something? My on hand reference does not specify what the wrong color is.

It is in a....well NOT VERY NICE CONDITION, but all matching...Bore is poor ( almost close to being shot out )
If I remember well there was some reddish discoloration of the bluing ( should call it browning...) at the rear of the right side of the frame... kidvett |

Interesting to the history of the pistol is the fact that the owner had it for a very long time and spent his life in Venezuela....which is not that far from Brazil....

That reddish brown color is commonly called 'Plumb' color and is a normal result of aging of the blueing, I personally like it as it indicates to me that the finish is not a newly done job. Congrats on your find.

Thanks!
I went looking at Wes previous post on Brazilian 1906 in the Early Lugers Category...I have to say that mine is WORST than the one that was auctioned , specifically on the frame under the grips & the grip safety area....but still I got in for a LOW price and I am happy The question will be: leave as is or restore.... kidvett |
