Default Luger Variations

Recently in a thread I read that there are about 3000 Lugers variations and I canā??t find this thread again to confirm what I have read, can somebody confirm this figures please, or I was dreaming? Thanks.

all wild guesses by somebody....

probably are if you count each "variation"?

Davis' new book has scores of lugers that he calls variations, technically, maybe, but maybe not by other people.....

How about, there are probably hundreds of variations and I know I would be right about that
