Feed Problem Help

My 1915 Erfurt Luger has been having problems seating rounds into the chamber properly. About 3/4 of the time it attempts to chamber a new round the edge of the brass seems to catch on the chamber causing a jam.

I've been using new Mecgar magazines and 124gr Remington ammunition.

Any help on how to fix this problem would be greatly appreciated. I could provide more details or pictures of the problem if necessary.

Try a different brand of ammo. I've had bad luck with Lugers and Rem. 9mm ammo, the overall length is a hair too short. I've found Walmart Federal and WWB to feed and cycle just fine.

+1 Remington is shorter and has problems in mine also, Winchester White box works well.

Ammo as above, plus I have had excellent results with 115gr PMC FMJ ammo. It is inexpensive, as is Winchester white box and Federal 9mm, and is available most places.

I have several 9mm handguns and it seems NONE of them work 100% with Remington ammo. In fact, every person I know that shoots 9mm has said the same thing; there is always some kind of functioning problem with that stuff. Looks like Remington would get there act together and find out what the problem is.......................................

I have a box of American Eagle 124gr I have to try out too. I'll have to try out the PMC 115gr next time I pick up ammo. I was just under the impression that Lugers preferred higher grain ammunition to get the action to cycle properly.

I believe that you will find that many of the folks on this forum that shoot their Lugers will shoot 115gr FMJ with no problems. Actually, I have only tried 124gr FMJ one time.

Lugers can be like .22cal handguns.....very ammo sensitive. Just try different brands and bullet weight until you find the "golden brand", and then buy up a bunch. That is what I did with the PMC 115gr FMJ.

Mine have all shot fine with 115 or 124 grain, and the load power hasn't been much of a factor either. Any ammo problems I've ever had with a Luger were due to overall length of the round.

The remingtons don't work in my P1 either.

Don' t expect any commercial ammo to work properly or shoot straight either.

If you reload, this is the answer for a Luger.
