luger of the month

After the wonderful display for august(paperwork and all) I was dissatisfied with the current cartridge counter motif.

The cartridge counter is certainly interesting in the grip but as a layout it in my humble opinion was not among the finer work previously displayed.

Well, like anything, there will be people who like something better than others. Since the Luger of the month is picked by our webmaster from our forum members collections we can't always be sure that everyone is going to think it is a great cover picture. I would suggest that if you have a picture of a Luger that you would really like added to the home page that you submit it with a story that will either explain something unique about the pistol or have some historical background. Personally, I have never seen a Luger that I didn't think was quite elegant. With all the collectors here now we should have some really nice pictures with text to choose from.

I'm sorry, although it might not have been as pretty or expensive (and I don't know this for sure), the counter Luger has always interested me and I liked it.

I have a great deal of problems locating pictures to display on our Front Page... perhaps you could assist by helping me locate some truly fine works to display. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

All Lugers are intrinsic works of art and mechanical masterpieces. I was expecting an active background with "top secret" documents or some thing. All i have is a stoeger navy luger-not much to look at compared to you real collectors. If anyone has trinkets(medals, ribbons, swords daggers, accessories all would make great accompaniments to a great firearm.

..seems to me that the last time we had accompanying medals we were told by our European brothers that the swastikas were close to becoming an issue (they have some pretty strict rules, I guess, as eBay points out). I know that at one time the opening page was a static display of a swastika and a Luger and we took some heat over that. I guess it doesn't hurt to remember that the focus here is on Lugers, not politics. Staying as close to topic has kept us together for the most part. We all have reasons why we like Lugers, some of us like the association with the military, some see that as secondary to the firearm. I like it all as long as the focus is on Lugers.

Besides, since the gun was being phased out by 1939, an Imperial eagle and some medals of that era would be more than appropriate.

The way I see it, anyone who gets all bent out of shape over the mere appearance of a swastika or a Reichsadler really needs to get a grip. Two of the biggest NDSAP auction and sales sites on the internet are owned by Jews, and it doesn't seem to bother them!
