You should make a follow-up cartoon of Eugene as Lucy Brown snatching the carbine from Ed as he reached for it!

Sorry Ed... couldn't resist. I hope he gets off his butt and finishes your carbine REAL SOON NOW.

taking bets? On whether it's ready or not? Fit & finish alright? Will it actually shoot? Or another half dozen bets? God bless Brother Ed, I hope it's what it's supposed to be..Personally I think the guy should bring it to your house on a red velvet pillow on bended knee.

I am chanting a Luger Carbine completion mantra now...

With repetition it increases in power... Irresistible power...

"Escarrabin! Illegitimi non carborundum... Omm.... "

This meaningless pseudo Latin comes from the French word root ("gravedigger") of "Carbine" and the concept that you should not "let the bastards grind you down"...

Hoping for Joy!

Marc

I have a serious question~~ How does he come up with a legal serial number? I'm sure there has to be some rule of law governing this situation. Must it be registered with State and or Fed agencies? Eric

As to serial number, mine was a makeover of a luger; so it has the original number. No creation of a number.
Since Ed has a time for pickup, it appears to be a sure thing on delivery.
If never to be shot, fine but you must still check it over thoroughly. for interior parts, fit and finish, etc.
On mine, after 8 shots the shoulder stock developed a small crack; which took several months to get resolved and then I finished up the last 15 percent or so; after I finally got it back.
If you shoot it, I wouldn't use the more powerful ammo suggested. I use the Winchester white box. Also make sure to hold securely to shoulder as the entire weapon absorbs the energy.
I fired mine only to verify that it would fire without fail.
Thanks
Jack

Aren't Luger carbines exempt from the ATF regulations about SBR's and detachable buttstocks???

Does anyone have the letter or the reg reference???

Jack, at first I felt that I'd like him to send it, but if Eugene made the date and time for me to come by, that would be good.

Its built on a G date, so its serial number will be built off of that...

BTW, the barrel is 16 inches, so its exempt that way... A carbine would be 12.5 inches if memory serves me right.

From the ATF site -

OPEN LETTER ON THE
REDESIGN
OF STABILIZING BRACES”
The Firearms and Ammunition Technology Division (FATD), Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) has received
inquiries from the public concerning the proper use of devices
recently marketed as stabilizing braces.” These devices are
described as “a shooter’s aid that is designed to improve the single
-handed shooting performance of buffer tube equipped
pistols.” The device claims to enhance a ccuracy and reduce felt recoil
when using an AR -style pistol. These items are intended to improve accuracy by using the operator’s forearm to provide stable support for
the AR - type pistol

. ATF has previously determined that attaching the brace to a
firearm does not alter the classification of the firearm or subject the firearm to National Firearms Act (NFA) control.
However, this classification is based upon the use of the device as designed.
When the device is redesigned for use as a shoulder stock on a handgun with a rifled barrel under 16 inches in length, the firearm
is properly classified as a firearm under the NFA.

By this it seems if it was ever originally made this way, its fine. If not i.e fitting a stock to a 1911, it would be "modified" and illegal without ATF approval.
