Vern,

It's called "French Gray". I believe it's done with an organic acid wash. Found on the receiver's of very high end engraved single shot rifles and shotguns. Almost a lost art of old world gun building, when done correctly.

Dang, i think i need a bucket under my jaw, that thing is positively gorgeous. Just look at the meticulous detail, lordy thats a beautiful pistol. Not so much a pistol, as an incredible piece of art. Well done sir, well done! This is a piece many of us just close our eyes and dream about, please, more pictures

Very very nice looking pistol.... museum quality.

Once you've gotten calmed down, you really ought to have a professional photographer take some photos. I'll bet the detail is stunning!
