Default Two Artillery Lugers

Hi new to the forum. Looking forward to learning more about these two artillery lugers. Have had these for a while and just getting around to researching them. One is a 1917 the other is a 1918. Both have all matching numbers (that I can see). The 1917 came with a stock(non #'s matching) 100 year old leather holster, and a snail drum. Pictures of stock and drum will follow. The 1918 came just as you see it here.

One question i have is the "REH 13" on the left side of the receiver. Can anyone tell me more about this? Also, any info in general on these guns would be greatly appreciated. I am new to Lugers.

Thanks

Stan

The "REH" is not a Imperial applied marking. Perhaps the vet that brought it back?

Welcome!

I thought it could b initials but it is followed by the # 13, in the same font. Wouldn’t that seem to indicate something other than a persons initials?

Good question, it is probably lost to history. I'm sure others will post replies. Having two LP.08's is a great start.

Welcome to the forum, Stan.

Each page here has a link to the excellent FAQ, which is downloadable as a .pdf, in the top grey bar. It's a good starting place for answers to questions you may have about your Artys, and a lot more. Enjoy!
