Markings

Hi everybody
I am Stefan from Switzerland and am new in this forum. Please excuse my poor english.
Now my question. Does anybody know this markings on my luger 9mm?

Hello and welcome to the forum.

Your Luger was reworked and refinished well after it was shipped from the factory.

The "S" on the toggle and toggle serial number marking was not done by any of the Luger manufacturers, and the pistol looks dip refinished. The grips are post war.

The "DE/63" acceptance mark was used early on at Mauser (1936-7 timeframe) but I don't know of a "S" marked chamber coming from Mauser. The ears of your frame don't have the Mauser hump either.

I don't recognize the horizontal double 8 or cloverleaf marking.

I believe the "88" was used to obscure/cancel a Vopo marking.
Like Marc, I have no idea about the "S"s; never saw them before.
The pistol has been refinished, and the date removed from the receiver top before an "S" was stamped there.

"S" is a Latin letter; for Soviet the Cyrillic letter would be a "C", or at least I think it would- as in C.C.C.P.

Perhaps it is a Kreighoff receiver, some of them had an "S" on the chamber top, even saw a picture in the book.

One of the Kreig guys will elaborate.

I also considered that it might be a Krieghoff receiver, but that would be inconsistent with the Mauser inspector markings which are also on the receiver.

Or,
the mauser acceptance markings would be "inconsistent" on a Kreighoff receiver!

But for sure the big "S" on the mid toggle link is not like any other I've seen.

As mentioned above, the S code, as used by KH early in 1936, was also available to Mauser to use in 1936, but I've never seen one. If the serial number to close to where the G dates end in the mid F block, I supposed that it would be worth investigating. TH
