Default 1911 unit mark

Is this a military police ar a fortress prison mark?

F.G.(etappe/backward 3).Imperial I. 3.

How would I tell the difference. The F.G. could be either according to Jeff Noll's book. Thanks
Jim

A photo of the unit mark would help.

Looks like a fortress telephone unit. Post your photos directly on the forum and it will help.
