Byf refurbished by MAUSER

Hello friends,
In 1997 Mauser refurbished some 1941 byf P08. I guess these models mainly sold in Europe. The Mauser Italian importer, proposed some of these pistol in our market.
One of these interesting pieces is now for sale in eGun.

The july, 1997 Mauser catalog shows a reworked 1930's P08 and the text

'Mauser offers an outstanding, state of the art pistol which still bears the original numerical designation'

Check your eyes. The bid is 500 euros = $628.33. The Germans use a comma instead of a period for the decimal point.

I remember that I have read the testing article of these pistols in an Italian magazine in the 1998. I have this magazine somewhere in Italy.
I guess the Italian importer have a few of these still available. May you post me a high quality picture of the 1997 catalog? I would like to insert it in the pages related to the post WWII Mauser production in my web site.

Rather than tooling up and making that afterbirth of a pistol Mauser manufactured in the 70s and 80s, why didn't they just buy surplus Lugers on the market and rehab them?

Gross profit would have been better and capital expenditures would have been minimal.

This may seem like a dum question, but I'm really confused so I'll ask it anyway.

What "Mauser Werke Obernforf" did these restaurations? It's my impression that the Mauser plant was destroyed/dismantled in the late 40s?

Former Mauser employees later founded Heckler & Koch. I haven't heard of a new Mauser Werke before? Could someone please explain the basics for me?

Is it the hunting rifle maker Mauser Jagdwaffen?

Hello,
In 1954, after rearrangement and reconstruction of the Mauser Company, developments in the weapons sector get up and running again.

In the 1970 the production of the Parabellum model started again. The production was mainly based on two models the 29/70 model, close to the 06/29 Swiss one, and the 06/73 model, close to the 06 one.

In 1975, Mauser started the production of the Parabellum Commemoratives.
Mainly all models were produced again in limited quantity (250 pieces for each model).

In the 1999, Mauser Werke in Oberndorf ceased the production.

The current Mauser doesnÃ¢??t have anything in common with the previous Company but the name.

Yes!

"Mauser" manufactured various things in the 50s and 60s other than firearms (automotive parts for one).

Mauser Jagdwaffen is the trade name I have seen them use on some of their later rifles of "more modern design" than their world famous Model 98.

I'm sure that someone here has their modern corporate organization chart, but Mauser wasn't permanently "killed" when the French Army destroyed their rater antiquated manufacturing facilities in 1946.

Just find this interesting refurbished Mauser (90 years of P08) with Gold inscription like the commemorative models. Absolutely interesting item that demonstrates how many types of P08 Mauser made in the 1970 - 1999 period.
