These are three P.08 sight adjust tools I have collected over the years.

Very nice collection of those tools. I trust they are fairly rare.

Yes, the left one has a very small Swiss Cross on on top near the blade pusher. I will try and get a photo of it tomorrow if I have time after work. The right one is unmarked and fits the slim taper barrels. ie. GRN & M2
I will also try and show the fit of each around the pistol barrel bands. Thanks Ed |

Gosh, fine tools like that take all the excitement (read: cussing and spitting) out of pushing sights.

Does the M23 tool also fit the 9mm Lugers?

Each tool is specific to a style of barrel band and sight block. A tool for the pencil tapered 7.65 mm barrels would not admit a larger barrel band from a P.08.

I know. What I don't know is how different the barrel band of the M23 is from the one of a standard P.08.

I have a 9mm x 120mm Tikkakoski [don't call it a 'Tikka'!] Luger barrel in front of me, with the 'square' sight blade. The front band measures .5990" or 15.22mm perpendicular to the blade. Vernier measurement, and the band tapers slightly so that is an aggregate measurement.

Can I bother you to measure from the bottom of the barrel band to the beginning of the sight dovetail? In the P.08 it's around .611(hard to measure ). The tool measures .618 from the bottom of the hole to the base of the pusher. |

All, the front sight band and dovetail notch dimensions are clearly dimensioned on the P.08 blueprints.
The measurement from the bottom of the barrel band is 17.5mm to the top of the front sight ramp, and the notch is 1.6mm deep. The top of the dovetail notch is 4.2mm front to back and the bottom of the dovetail is 5.4mm. I suggest you buy a copy of the blueprints (shameless plug) and they will come in handy for discussions and projects like this one. You can PM me for purchase instructions or see the Blueprint CD thread in the FOR SALE forum. Here is an extract of the barrel blueprint as an example

I was trying to get the measures from the non standard 9mm Tikkakoski barrel band. To find out if the Finnish M23 tool could be used in a standard P.08.
Jussi16 post got me curious. I already know the P.08 tool can only be used in a P.08. |

I just wanted to say thank you. It was your idea in a recent post you made to to get a sight adjustment tool thread started. Again Thanks Ed Roane |

The Tikkakoski barrel
I will measure the barrel I told about, but I am on a holiday right now. I will get back home maybe in three or four weeks.

Tikkakoski ...
This fits in very nice to my M23 tool. Tikkakoski barrel. I forgot about this picture. It has been a year since I promised to send it.
