Greg it appears the sear SPRING is strawed but should be fire blued. Nice Luger!!!

Greg,
I am going to step out on a limb. I believe I have seen some Simson lugers with the strawed sear bar spring. I tried to quickly research this but have not been able to find it yet! If I am incorrect maybe somebody will saw the limb off. But I am sure I have seen the strawed sear bar spring before. Boy, does that bother me not being able to find the reference!

Greg,
Probably it is a replacement which was done during the period. For example a 1900 British Test Luger serial #26 in the Pattern Room, UK also has the same strawed part which is a replacement. This is nothing serious on your Luger. Albert |

Just looked at a nice colored picture of a Borchardt and it has a fire blued sear spring next to the sear (I suppose those are the part names) A nice combination

Thor,
The Borchardt and the early prototype Lugers did have a strawed sear bar with the fire blue spring. Looks nice.
