P08 Magazine 8995
I have a magazine that came with my 1939 S/42, that the ser number does not match the gun. I would like to trrade it for a like magazine with ser # 1712, I know I have a "snowballs chance in hell" of that happening, but maybe someone has a gun with 8995 ser #.....I would sell it if I knew its worth, maybe some help from the experts on that.
Thank You, Gary |

Hi, I re-posted this over here since discussion isn't allowed in the for sale forum.
Also, I checked the B-1 appendix in Hallock and van de Kant's "The Mauser Parabellum" and none of this period's magazine serial numbers show the kind of seraph font that the "9" digits in this one have. The dies used left digits with a different appearance. You asked on the other forum about what this means. It's possible that this was ground and re-stamped somewhere other than the factory. That could also account for the loss of one of the Waffenamt digits (the leading 6). Look at it on end for roundness. Marc

Marc, looked at the mag from the end and the conture looks normal to me. I don't have another mag with wihich to compare. In the end i guess anything is possible. Thanks for the advice. Do you have an idea of it's value?
