Just a test of a new photo setup. Luger is a .30 Alphabet Commercial in the o block.

Gentleman,I have a chance to buy a Luger just like this one from a fellow at work.The only difference is the one I will buy is an i prefix,ser #7094.The only other difference is his pistol is stamped on the front strap in very small letters Made in Germany,at first I thought it was an import mark.Any thoughts on price,he is asking 400.00,bore is good with wood bottom mag marked germany.Thank You for any input.He is anxious to sell and another guy will take it if I pass.

Forgot to add,everything is matching from what I could see.Disassembled it with him and other than old grease gumming it up it looked pretty good inside.

$400 is a reasonble price, although is it 7.65 or 9MM? 7.65 is expensive to shoot, 9mm cheap.

Made in Germany I know is another form of importing into the US, although unsure of the year this was done. You can see that Dwight's Germany is only marked germany.

Don't wait, BUY IT !! At four hundred bucks , it's a steal !! The mag & grips alone are worth $150 on ebay! If you shoot it a lot , change out the barrel to 9mm. Walmart Winchester 9mm's are very inexpensive to shoot, If you change out the barrel , you may have to change out the main spring too. Both operations are fairly inexpensive to do if you find the right "Lugersmith" to do them. Good luck and if you don't buy it I will...Send me a PM

US customs regulations changed in 1923 requiring "Made in ---" (country of origin), rather than just the country. TH

Just returned with my new purchase.My pistol is a twin to Mr. Grubers.My sideplate may have a little less finish.It is .30 Luger,bore is not mint,but servicable.This is the 2nd luger I have purchased thanks to members of this board and your advice.I never knew a commercial luger existed until I researched this site.I was a little concerned about the Made in Germany(Thanks Lugerdoc)marking.2 last questions,could you recommend a book/books that would be helpful for a novice like myself,and second what would be a conservative value on this pistol(insurace purpose).Thanks again for the help,Dave

Dave, search each forum for "luger books" and you will find many good titles and much advice about what books are good and which aren't.

$400-$500 is a good benchmark for insurance purposes, but remember that these values change frequently... usually UP.
