Post Best Shot

Since this is the shooting and reloading section, I thought this might be interesting to find out...

What was the best shot that you ever made with a Luger or any pistol or rifle?

with my BYF 41 Black Widow...Five 10's in a rapid fire string at a 25 yard sillouette target on an Army Combat Pistol Range during my lunch hour...

A woodchuck... .22-250 Weatherby, 425 yards... it suprised me as much as it surprised him. I held about 9-12 inches over his head since I was sighted for 100 meters... caught him in a standing position from the back right between the shoulder blades... almost 32 years ago

That is a looooong time ago.

A one gallon paint can... at 100 meters... multiple times ( 25 % hits and 75 % REAL CLOSE to hits )with an issue 1911A1 I guarantee that I could have kept your head down that day at that range if I'd had several more mags )

Hornets... with a BB gun at 25 yards... (scoped) taking out the nest sentries one at a time from the opening to the nest from the front seat of a volkswagon beetle out the driver's window with a daisy powerline pump in my diveway... GREAT FUN ( and if you miss and they swarm you can just roll up the window until things are calm )

Jack Rabbit at 450 yd with a 7mm Mag-120gr Hornady at 3200 fps. Jack Rabbit with 9mm at 100 meters (two times, each with first shot) Jack Rabbit at 350 yds with 44 mag (second shot) As you can see, lot of rabittos in NM. 5 Quail, 3 at 55 yds with one shot each, 12 guage-#6 shot lead I did LOTS of missing, but when you shoot thousands of rounds you get lucky once in a while. Longest on a game animal-350 yds with a 340 WBY (ol Thor) and shortest TWICE did a Muley at 15 yds with 7mm Maggie (should have shot them with a pistol) Kyrie's Artillery Luger story are REALLY way cool!! Hope he shares them with those that havent heard yet! 107 here this afternoon, where is that cold bier! ah........

Way cool guys, mine is just doing plinking with a bone stock Para Ordinance P14 at 25 yards. We can shoot recycling at the club (outdoors). If you hit a plastic 2 liter bottle just right it will jump in the air. A newbe, who I brought to the range said, "Yea, but can you hit it again on the way down?" I did with a 200 grain lead semi wad cutter and 5 grains of 231.

Some of the most fun I have had is shooting bowling pins at 10 yds with a 40, 45 or 357. You have to drive 5 pins off a wide table. Natalie and I used to shoot in the couples matches. I would use my H&K Compact 45 or my N Frame S&W 357 with Maxium loads. WOW, that is fun stuff and those pins really get small when you have a crowd of 30 people watching you and they are timing your shots.

Colt Cup National Match with an AR H-BAR @ 200 yards. 50 shots, all positions. Did pretty damned well out of 1050 competitors from civilian, police and Military shooting teams. It was my lucky day, I guess - still have the target...

With a Luger? Don't ask

An NVA pig, 500+ yds (two and a half rice paddies plus a bamboo patch), used a .50 M2 Browning, single shots, hit it on third round, swear to this day it was a bad guy running away.

I had a one shot contest with a blowhard with a scoped model 70 .243 at 100 yards on a smallbore rifle target. My gun was a stock flattop Ruger 44 Magnum--iron sights. We both shot offhand since he was getting ready to set up sandbags and I teased him that they would be unfair against me shooting one handed offhand. I shot first--a 9 at 4 o'clock. He was so shook up as his rifle swayed back and forth that he missed.

A lot of fun watching him--he couldn't believe my shot (admittedly pretty lucky).

When I was many years younger; was startled by a rattlesnake while tromping the woods. Did a fast draw with my Ruger Single Six and shot his head off before I realized that I had even drawn the gun. Guess I had great motivation!

Best shot ever was with an S&W M29-2. But since this is a Luger forum, my best shot with a Luger was years ago in Utah. Some friends and I were shooting cans at a dump site out in the country side. We spotted a pheasant sitting down at the bottom of the hill, about 40 yards. My two buddies unloaded a 44 Ruger single action, a 357 single action, and a cap and ball revolver at it, all to no avail. The bird sat there more or less in shell shock from the noise. When the noise died away I pulled out a 30 caliber M1920 with 4 inch barrel and nailed it on the first shot. (Legal to take a pheasant with a handgun in that time and place.)

Now at a time like this, you don't say a word. If you start talking, they'll begin to think about how much luck was involved...

Colt Woodsman 22 pistol. Meadowlark in the very top of a blackjack oak. 90 yds. of atmosphere. Called my shot. One shot. Instinct point, from the hip. Through the heart.

Smugly ignored entreaties of repeat performance.

official results at http://www.tirsportif.com , french IPSC site

My best, didn't happen with pistol or rifle! When I was in my senior year of high school, a bunch of us skipped school for an early morning goose hunt at a local refuge about 30 miles from town. We found a large bunch in the middle of a winter wheat section... as there was no cover, I elected to stay with the car, and let my buddies try to get around them.. after what seemed like hours, everyone was in position. The geese got up and flew right over me and the car! I knock down three with three shots... needless to say, my friends saw no humor in the turn of events... We didn't fire another shot the rest of the morning... till...later...G.T.

Rock, about the size of a volly ball, hit first shot I ever fired from my Rock Island 1903. Approx. 430 yards using the battle sight.
