Post Top Cannon firing

Dont try this at home folks, but I had to do it and I DONT RECOMMEND anybody else doing a silly stunt like this! I fired the top cannon again today-Once! As I told before, I am the cautious type. Dar Robinson, the famous stunt man said, "if you want to jump off your house, jump off the curb first, then a chair, then a step ladder and eventually it will start to hurt" so with this in mind, I loaded a semi quib load with 2 grs of Unique behind a 115gr bullet (normal load is about 5.1-5.5 grs) and fired it, a bit anxious but all went well. Using ear and eye protection and holding the cannon FIRMLY with a towel wrapped around it, I fired a 3.5 gr load today, a bit more recoil. Next session 4.5 grs. I will get to a full loading but I am working at it very slowly......and cautiously! This fact is noted to show new owners that you could potentially hurt yourself very badly if you didnt know this could occur and you had the gun apart and popped in a round into just the top section, YES....it will fire! (unless equipted with a sear safety)

You are an optimist Thor! I wouldn't trust the sear safety or any other safety. I've even seen a pistol with a known to be empty chamber fire!

I would not trust a sear safety or any safety either. The sear safety was certainly added to help prevent such accidents. How effective was it, I sure dont know!

OK Thor, There just isn't a good way to say this. You're gonna to blow your head off. The purpose of the sear safety was to PREVENT what you are successfully doing. What's the point? You proved it. It will shoot. I believed you before you tried it. Have you been down wind of a peyote patch in those fires out there? Can you do the same work with a few less fingers? Now I know you're over 21, own property, and can vote and its none of my business but somebody needs to call your wife. Please, this is coming from a guy who was crushed flatter than a dixie cup lid by a Humvee. I thought the "hey ya'll, hold my beer and watch this" group was limited to my backyard. <img src="graemlins/c.gif" border="0" alt="[ouch]" />

Hey RK, you shouldn't call my friend names, even if he is doing silly things to blow off a hand and get that insurance money...

{in a whisper}(RK, what a silly guy he is, isn't he? See he never had a chance to throw grenades or shoot grenade launchers, or anything like some of us did).

I probably shouldn't mention this, but I saw a stage act where a guy catches a bullet fired from a handgun in his teeth. Now don't be trying this.

I respect Thor as a master artisan and a gentleman and would never comment as I did except for the safety factor. If I'm out of line I respectfully apologize.

Come on Ted, squeeze that toggle down hard and let it fly, it can and has been done many times, I told you that last month, just don't let the toggles recoil and everything should be ok. When you get your hand fixed, let me know how easy it was. You might be onto something, a single shot long barrel personal defense weapon that fits into your sock, or up your sleeve. Go for the gold!!

Please excuse my ignorance, but from Thor's post I can't understand exactly what he's shooting and attempting to prove. Could someone please explain it?

Thanks.

Max2cam, a while back I posted that I had heard that a german officer had his Luger stripped and an enemy soldier rushed him. He had a round in the barrel and depressed the sear and fired it killing the enemy. Thor just had to try it to see if would really work. It did.
