Repro Artillery Holster/Stocks

I had noticed several artillery holster/stocks on eBay and was wondering if anyone had dealt with the sellers...They both list them as repros and have multiple items...They are -

The Landser is the brown one; the IMA is the black one...

I know I would have to work on them to get them to fit my...'artillery'... pistol, but I was interested in how they compare as to wood composition, thread gauge, leather thickness, metal fittings appearance, general quality stuff...

The price for a repro holster/stock seems to be fairly consistent
regardless of the seller...And they seem to be in 'production' from the number sold/in stock...

Maybe someone has purchased a nice repro from another source that they wouldn't mind mentioning???

best to ask them to send a sample so you can smell the leather. i bought a paki-rig and it smelt terrible. gave it away just to get the stink out of my hobby room.

I bought a leather jacket from the gift shop at El Dorado Airport in Bogota Columbia back in the late 80's that had the same smell problem...Great looking but argh the stench...

Poor curing??? Or just from smelly animals???

Poor curing, ...and from Columbia, you would never know what they had sewn into the lining that they would come and visit you later to retrieve, eh?

The Packi leather on holsters is treated with an acid derivative that is meant to age or antique the appearance. It smells terrible.
Just as an FYI, Colombian leather bought from a reputable vendor is top notch.

Used to use baseball glove oil to replace the smell of a cheap leather...
takes time to rub it in, but it helps

Rich, the only other seller of repro rigs that I can think of is Charles M. Roscoe (CMR, ltd.) in the UK. The quality has varied from good to poor over the years. I had an early repro p.08 holster once. It seemed to be good quality, but I donated it to one of the lugerforum support raffles a few years ago.

Atlanta Cutlery offers rigs as well, but I suspect they are same sourced as the ones you show.
