Hi all,
I was at the gun show in Portland Oregon today and saw a 1937 Krieghoff. Unfortunately it has been re-finished. It was done well but appears to be a salt blue and not a rust blue, they did straw the parts that should have been strawed. I didn't look at the bore. The grip appeared to be the correct brown plastic. The gun comes with a Lufwaffe(sp?) marked holster and two 37 era Mauser magazines. Asking price was $2500. I thought this was very high for a refinished gun. I put the value with the holster and mags at around $1500. Dwight Gruber was at the show and we both looked at this piece. He thought it was worth less than I did. I wanted to get some feedback from people who know Krieghoff's better than I do. Have prices gone up so much that a refinished gun would command that type of price? Where should this type of gun be priced? Thanks, Bob M. |

I'd price it some where between $1000-1250, it is just a shooter now.

Tom's probably nailed it.
Joe Salter had a nice refinished 1940 HK...(a bit more rare) that sold around $ 1750 or so...if I remember the asking price correctly. |

Bob,
A quick note; Krieghoff's Lugers were salt blued and not rust blued. The trigger, locking bolt, thumb safety lever, ejector, and magazine release button are straw color. Thanks, Tony |

Tony,
Thanks for the info. I'll look at this one again but the guy said it had been redone. He also said that Simpson had offered him $2200 for it. I don't know the guy but one of my friends does and said he is a very straight arrow and didn't think he'd make up the Simpson story. Bob M. |
