Interesting WWI Ring

I got this ebay recently. With the valuable assistance of Ellie and Jerry"smile when you say that"Burney.

Gerben V, translated the inscription for me The inscription reads:
"To prove my loyalty to my old fatherland, I gave it during difficult times gold in exchance for this iron."

He said it's from the Gold for Iron drive to raise money for WWI. Someone probably exchanged their wedding band for it.
Who ever he was. He must have been a pretty good sized guy. I wear a size 14 ring. The ring is on my thumb, in the photo. It has a date of NOV.24,1914, inside. Thought the WWI buffs would enjoy seeing it.

That is a beautiful ring. Nice to see a fellow forum member that has an interest in these items.

Here is a ring that I recently purchased.

This is one of the most beautiful (my opinion) of the WWI rings. It is the Prussian flyer's badge done up as a ring. It depicts the early airplane flying over a village. The plane is within a wreath for victory with the Prussian crown at the top. Fine leaf design adorns the shank and sides. It's of pure silver and small size-a little over 9 Ã?Â½ (I suppose a woman's ring). A fine example of the Grossezeit.

Wes, That is an interesting ring. Must be a Pilots sweetheart ring. Kind of like giving your class ring to your steady.

Ed and Richie, I think it's neat to have photos and memorbilia from the same period as the Lugers. Kind of gives you a feel for the time. Back when things were made with pride and craftsmanship. Like Jerry's holsters and Ted's and Hugh's Luger work. Not shucked out for mass consumption, with planned obselesence. I was bornt a hunert years too late.

Wes, A stunning example of an Imperial Fliers ring! I have never seen one before. Thanks for the treat! One thing you had to give the Germans, their mastery of style was amazing. Jerry Burney
