Stainless Steel Mec-Gar Magazines
About two years ago I saw two "stainless steel" Mec-Gar magazines offered at a price of $30 each. I contacted the seller who assured me they were not chrome plated steel, but were actually stainless. I bought both of them. These were the older type Mec-Gar without the name impressed in the metal like the newer versions. Mechanical construction is identical to all Mec-Gar magazines I have seen.
They do, in fact, appear to be stainless. Has anyone else come across this type? Anyone know how to (non-destructively) test the metal to determine if it is stainless?

I was planning to update my response. The better quality stainless usually wont stick at all. Lower quality stainless will stick a little but nowhere as strong as regular steel.

I see that currently MecGar is making many different stainless mags, but 2 years ago, I would bet that they are electroless nickel coated. TH

These two magazines have a dull, frosty white look about them, very similar to stainless steel. The newer silver colored Mec-Gars have a shiny, chrome-like finish.
Alas, a magnet does stick to these . . . tightly. They are not stainless in spite of their appearance.
