Post Range report

I got a chance to fire my Mauser Parabellum .30cal today with some new ammo. I purchased some 95gr FMJ from a loader that I had tried in the past with my 1906. It functioned flawlessly! <img border="0" alt="[jumper]" title="" src="graemlins/jumper.gif" />

As Dwight can testify, soft lead tips did not work at all in this gun. They would not even move up in the magazine column.

What a difference the right loading makes! The price was not too bad at $80.00/250. I did not get a chance to try it in the new stainless model.

There were two ladies doing some stream sampling close by that were upset with the shooting so I told them I would leave and said that I was sorry for making them nervous. I could have pressed the issue and stayed but thought that it was more polite to leave even if it was public land.

The Mauser Parabellums are incredibly accurate pistols. I have a MP P.08 frame with grip safety & 6" bbl. in 9mm. The sights are dead-on at 25m using Winchester bulk-pack 115gr fmj ammo. The Mec-Gar mags work every bit as good as the OEM Mausers.

Agree on 9 mm and Walleymart ammo. $25 per 250 rounds. Wowee!!

Any suggestions as to good commercial load and source for .30? The less expensive the better.

Thanks!

I believe S&B carries .30 as well. Never had complaints about the S&B 9mm. The Mec-Gar magazines may need some tinkering in some guns. My 1906 pattern Dutch luger doesn't like them yet, I think bending the feed lips outwards slightly will do the trick.

My mismatched Frankenluger hated Mec-Gar magazines and only worked with a cruddy old German magazine. My 1915 DWM and 1936 Mauser love the Mec-Gars and work 100% with them.

Could it be that a mismatched frame/receiver combo doesn't quite meet the tolerances of a matched frame/receiver combo?
