Default New 1906 American Eagle

Picture quality is not great, need better lighting. Anyway 1906 American Eagle in .30 Luger. Proofed Crown N original finish is close to mint. It does have some edge wear, bore is minty. Total production was 7500-8000 guns. (Note, mottled spot on the left side is due to oil and lighting.)

Nice pistola! What does the area under safety lever look like? It should have a lightly recessed outline of the lever and polished bright metal. Does the right side grip look the same on the inside (color and walnut figure) as the left (and, are they stamped with the last two digits and large letter C)? I recently had a very similar pistol (but it wasn't all matching) restored by Ted to it's factory original condition (actually better than new since his hand work is more attentive than some factory worker back at the turn of the century). I think that AEs are some, if not the best of all the Lugers. That is an exceptionally fine specimen you have captured. If one has not felt the joy of a grip safety in the web of your right hand they have truly missed one of the aspects of Lugers (just my opinion). Thanks for sharing the pictures.

I felt the American Eagle was a must in my three, soon to be four, Luger collection. The grip safety was way ahead of its time. The 30 cal. and longer tapered barrel makes for an interesting Luger.

My magazine was a bit snug. With a towel wrapped around it, a few gentle taps made the clip fall out of the gun with the push of a button.

I am proud to say that my DEEP American Eagle came to me courtesy of the Ralph Shattuck Collection. I will maintain this gun in its original unused condition. Eventually I will have pictures to share.
