08/33 police
Perhaps someone can help me ID a police luger I have had in my collection for a while. DWM, 5 diget SN, 511XX and no letter suffix, lazy N left side of barrel extention. E/SU 25 on barrel, rework?, rear toggle has correct font and size last two of SN, but also a crown letter proof, Erfurt. Side plate has a small 50 on bottom flat part, but same size and style correct last two diget of SN on side. Then is has a "dot after SN on trigger plate and behind DWM on mid toggle, "XX.". This can be seen in Still's Weimar page 52. Two correct SN'ed Hanel mags, SN'ed to gun and no other proof. But have seen mags not numbers 1-2-3, and this is also shown in Still's book. No grip markings, no right side barrel extention markings. Sear and mag safety, mag safety disconnected. The lazy N and 5 diget SN throw me a bit, but gun looks proper rework blue for period rework into a police gun...thanks for any help you can provide.

Hi,
From what information you have given I would guess your Luger is a 1908 commercial that was reworked and issued to the police. The SU25 is a Simson rework proof. The 5 digit serial number in the 511xx range is in the 1908 commercial range and without any more acceptance markings on the right side, it would have originally been a commercial gun. Does it have a stock Lug?? |

thanks for info, there is no stock lug, and it has a short sear bar. I was not sure of the 5 diget SN without a suffix, your info helps.
