Another milestone in Lugerforum History

Today we have registered our 4000th user...

When I joined this group... there were about 50 of us using a free discussion server in Taiwan... no history was saved... no registration... all the good discussion went down the tubes when it scrolled off the page...

those were NOT the good ole' days... THESE are...

Without shame, I believe this is the finest gun-related forum of its kind on the Internet...

Hope I am still around when we reach 8000 users...

Just an observation... we have had FORTY TWO new members register since August 31st... that has to be some kind of record that hasn't been matched since we changed to the new format and required re-registration of all members back in June of 2002... I think that as the next year or two passes, so will a lot more WW2 vets and their heirs will be looking to us to identify what has been found in the top of the master's bedroom closet... I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see a lot of "new" looking Lugers come out of the closet in the next couple of years...Lugers that haven't seen the light of day in perhaps half a century...

Last year I heard a prediction that when the WWII vets start to die in numbers and more of their lugers start to hit the market, the price of Lugers go may down a bit. Does anyone here really think it will have any real effect on the price?

Such a great forum this is, thanks to all the friendly and helpful people and the great work from the moderators

As my guess on the Luger prices.. I can only speak for Norway and Europe in general. But I donÃ¢??t think they will go down much over here. In most European countries, it is not possible to legally have a pistol in the closet for years. Because of the rules with active membership in shooting clubs + participating in tournaments. Veteran or not.. My quess is that since LugerÃ¢??s are melted down every day, the prices will go up.

We will NEVER see the price of Lugers go down! I can say that with fair certainty... there are only a finite number of them and the number of Luger enthusiasts grows each and every year...

Just like legally ownable machineguns in the USA... the price will continue to skyrocket... the older they get, the more value they will demand. Remember you heard it here first!

The price of "average" p38's I beleive went down with the thousands, maybe 10's of thousands of P38 and P1's that came into the country, but high end and really nice ones stayed higher. I doubt we will ever see 10's of thousands of lugers come into the country again and that would be required to lower the price of "average" lugers. I actually believe the influx of russian and east german lugers brought the value of lugers up, as more folks were able to aquire one.

With vets dying, there will be "spots" of cheap lugers, but unlikly to cause the price of average lugers to drop.

I fell in love with Lugers when I was a kid. I now have 3 and wish I could afford more. Last week, while at a gun shop someone told me about LugerForum. Well for the last week I've been staying up way too late reading as much as I can on all the forums. Well done guys. I fell in love with them all over again.
