I thought it was gutsy of him to say that...

Water under the bridge, but I always hate it when I get mad and say things I regret later...

Doubs, Your attempt at maintaining anonimity about the incident while making a very valid point is admirable... and Heydrich, your public candor about your mistake and the efforts you made to correct it are also...

That is the kind of civility that this forum stands for...Congrats gentlemen for your character, your honesty and your participation adds to the intrinsic value of this forum.

I consider the incident unfortunate, but as Ed said... it is water under the bridge now... perhaps at some future time Jan will elect to become active on this forum once more. Neither his membership, nor his logon credentials status has changed... only his desire to participate.

Everything you wrote is basically correct. I merely mentioned it because I wanted to use it as an example for the integrity of the moderators.

Even though I have been an enthusiastic collector of Kar.98k rifles for many years, and an avid reader of German history since childhood, I never should have made many of the posts I have here. I should have just lurked and learned from the seasoned and very knowledgeable Luger collectors like yourself, and the others. You learn more by listening. The only thing I can think of in defense of myself is that I’ve noticed that the techniques for the fakers are almost identical with Mauser rifles and Lugers. More than once, I’ve merely glanced at a humped-up Luger and could tell it had been messed with.

Peace out Doubs, everything is cool.

Al,
Now everyone sit by the fire and sing "Kumbahya"...horse pucky!

If folks are rude, crude or socially unacceptable to the rather civil standards on this forum, then [edited by ADMIN-JS] Good riddance to bad rubbish.

I have some rather strong beliefs which are far, far from being generally socially acceptable, much less politically correct.

The key factor is, however, these beliefs are MINE and the sacred United States Constitution guarantees me my right to have those beliefs and to act upon them in a legal manner, like voting and contributing money to candidates who espouse the same beliefs as I. It does NOT give me the right to voice those beliefs in a privately owned forum, which is exactly what this list constitutes.

So, ratdog and anyone else who has confused the first amendment as pertains to PRIVATE media, I strongly suggest you re-establish contact with your 6th grade civics teacher for remedial studies. Otherwise, I respectfully suggest that you take your whining and mis-informed view of the Constitution elsewhere.

Flame away.

We can't do a group hug, so lets just give our pet Luger an extra special hug tonight as we go to bed, and have sweet dreams about the sights and sounds of the DWM factory, about circa 1910....

[Edited by ADMIN-JS]. One final thing, Ratdog, if you really like discussing vile things like the Gestapo and civilian atrocities, you should take the advice of John D and Pete and go check out a Third Reich forum. I’ve read a lot about German 1933-1945 history, but I have never, and will never, post at one of those sites. There are way too many closet Fascists and teenagers enamored with Nazi Mystique at those sites for my taste.
