Default What is it?

Does anybody know what this mark is and what it means? It is on my Luger and I cannot find it in the mark examples.

Still trying to ID my Luger.

thanks

It is an Imperial proof stamp. It means the toggle assembly at that point passed inspection. It is a pre-WW2 inspector's mark.

Hi, You posted this query on the Commercial Luger forum. The eagle firing proof on the breech block would only be found on military Lugers, a commercial gun would be crown/N proofed.
Regards

Hi Norm,

This is the Reich's Chancellery gun discussed earlier that is all commercial with the exception of the mismatched toggle train.

Does anybody know what the "D" mark is on the front of the front sight right above the barrel opening?

I've seen this proof mark amusingly referred to as the "flaming squirrel"...
